Bridge Between Tree Hill Bangkirai
Many say if to Balikpapan is incomplete if not a visit to Bukit Bangkirai. Not just the area containing the lush green hills, Mount Bangkirai has several other advantages. Call it means outbound, collections of rare trees, some fruit villas, trekking paths and the most unique is the bridge between trees or a canopy bridge called the world's citizens.The bridge between the existing trees on the Mount Bangkirai is the first in Indonesia, both in Asia and the eighth in the world.
I depart from Aberdeen with some friends at once. By using the car, we began a journey around 1 pm. The journey taken about 1.5 hours at medium speed. Bangkirai Hill is located in the middle between Balikpapan and Samarinda, East Kalimantan's capital. Precisely in District Samboja. Actually, administratively Hill Bangkirai already included in its capital Regency Tenggarong. But its existence more widely known property of Oil City of Balikpapan.
The street was fairly heavy. Path that connects between cities
in Kalimantan it looks very smooth. Sides of the street seemed a few small villages and green hills. Fro a big bus to and from Samarinda often I find. Do not feel our cars have been entered Samboja. All around there are many food stalls and 1 police station. At a major intersection, our car swerved to the left. From there, the journey is still long enough. About 20 kilometers more to us through the deserted streets of splitting the left-right steep hills.
The road uphill and down sometimes. But I really enjoy what I see along the journey. From a distance I sometimes see bald hill because of the remnants of forest encroachment. I am sad to see it. But that's a fact.
We then meet with unpaved dirt track. There turns out there is a coal mining area. When we entered the last path to the Mount Bangkirai, we found a group of coal miners. They stood guard nearby. Hopefully with the coal mine, does not destroy nature in the area of Bukit Bangkirai. Because the distance between the two is far enough.
Entering the Mount Bangkirai, I was greeted by a gate. Which indicates that we really have arrived at destination. The area of green grass and some traditional style buildings I encountered there. Post retribution require us to pay some legal fees.
The lower the sun, indicates if the afternoon had arrived. For that, I and my friends soon trekking towards the bridge between trees. Travel time by foot is about 20 minutes. Left and right lane track in the form of trees typical of the tropics. Some are given a description name on a paper tree berlaminating. One of them is the type of trees and of course bangkirai meranti. Even some of them have reached a height of 50 meters.
